SINGING FOR SUPERHEROES
The pier at River Street, in his hometown of Savannah GA, is where it all began for Steven Battey. His inspiration and love for music was instilled in him early from his mother, Jackie Battey. He was devastated by the death of his father in 2003, and his hardships didn’t stop there. Tragedy lurked around the corner when his mother, Jackie passed away the following year. The loss of his parents influenced and motivated him to leave Savannah and pursue music on a more permanent basis.
In the beginning of 2016, Steven founded Singing for Superheroes to inspire children who suffered from illnesses and disabilities using music as medicine. In November of 2019 Steven met Nicole D’Amore and discovered they had similar backgrounds, experiences, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children. Taking advantage of Nicole’s 12 years of non-profit experience, they applied for their 501c3 status with the IRS and in November 2020, Singing for Superheroes Foundation (SFSF) was granted non-profit status by the IRS.
We believe that “music is medicine” and can help children cope with their disability or illness.
Our Main Objectives
- To inspire children with illnesses and disabilities
- To raise awareness to rare diseases that most people will never hear about
- To bring awareness to other non-profit organizations that help the children
SFSF believes that the true superheroes are the children dealing with their illness or disability. We strive to uplift them by giving them a musical experience that they will never forget and with your help we can touch even more children’s lives.
THE REAL SUPERHEROES ARE THE CHILDREN FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES. OUR GOAL IS TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT EACH CHILD DURING SOME OF THE HARDEST TIMES OF THEIR LIVES.
We are on a mission to put Singing For Superheroes’ music all over the world. Our hope is to inspire kids while raising awareness for each illness and disability.
